The Rolex Explorer I Ref. 5504 from 1959 is definitely a rare discovery. As a supposedly less expensive "SUPER PRECISION" version of the Explorer 1 Ref. 6610, this reference was also used in the British NAAFI. The watch combines the elegant style of a dress watch with sporty features, including Submariner-style hands and the extremely rare white second hand. The original Chapter Ring Gilt dial and hands are in excellent condition. The dial has also taken on a beautiful brown hue over the years.
